Explore the work of designer and artist Josef Frank through this illustrated online talk.

Join Head of Exhibitions Dennis Nothdruft as he reflects upon the exhibition Joseph Frank: Patterns-Furniture-Painting which was exhibited at the museum in 2017 and marked the first time Franks textiles were exhibited in the UK.

The Austrian-born architect Joseph Frank moved to Sweden in 1933, where he developed his colourful brand of modernism, working with Estrid Ericson on furniture, glassware, lighting and interior design ideas. Together they redefined what is regarded as Swedish Modern and established a visual vocabulary which is still much sought after today. Join Dennis as he discusses the process of curating the exhibition, which was staged in association with Millesgården, Stockholm and highlighted Frank’s vibrant fabric designs for Svenskt Tenn alongside a number of his previously unknown watercolours.
